“You know, this is different for me,” Blaine said as they approached the polling booths together.
“How so?” Kurt asked.
“Well, my parents are republicans,” he started out, giving Kurt a pointed look.
“Of course,” Kure replied with a nod.
“But this time, I get to come to these polling booths with an educated knowledge of why I am voting for the person I am voting for,” Blaine continued. “All I ever heard growing up was how people like Mitt Romney were the best people to run the country but I’ve done my research – he isn’t that great.”
Kurt gave him a small, happy smile. “I’m glad that you can vote for yourself, Blaine,” he said. “And that you can vote for who you think is the best person to run this country.”
Blaine nodded and turned to Kurt. “See you on the other side,” he said as he pulled back the curtain and stepped into the booth, hoping that his vote would make a difference.

“Hi.” Kurt’s voice is breathless when he answers the phone.
“Hi yourself.” Blaine closes his eyes. It’s impossible to fathom how much he misses Kurt, even after only a few days. It sits in his chest, heavy and curled tight. He tries to exhale and push it out.
“So-” Kurt’s voice is familiar and low; Rachel is probably there.
“So.” Blaine clears his throat, trying to ease how tight and hot it feels. He looks around his room for inspiration, something to say that won’t be weighed with longing. “I-”
“I miss you. I was just thinking about you and how much-” Kurt starts sweetly. His voice is still thready- he must have dashed to grab the phone quickly.
“Voting!” Blaine blurts out.

I wanted to do something more serious, but Blaine insisted that the best way to promote the importance of voting was through cosplay. Kurt said that there was nothing more patriotic than the Dalton blazer (which, we know he loves), and then he stole Blaine’s Capitan America t-shirt. Blaine had no choice but to try with colors alone, since the t-shirt was going to be his idea, but we all know he can’t say no to Kurt.
And then, since it’s ‘rock the vote’, they went and tried to do their best Elvis impersonation. Personally, I think Blaine’s closer, but Kurt gets bonus points for energy.

Halloween morning, before heading off to his internship, Kurt checked the mailbox he and Rachel shared and found two envelopes from the Allen County Board of Elections – their absentee ballots. Hurrying, he stuffed the envelopes into his messenger bag and headed off to work, shooting Rachel a text about their arrival during his subway trip into Manhattan.
