Scripts Won & Sought

*Dance With Somebody Update*

DANCE WITH SOMEBODY
The backpack we won in the We Promise Foundation’s 3rd Annual Red Carpet Celebrity Handbag Auction arrived on June 28 but unfortunately only contained portions of the script.
We were given three (3) scenes from DWS: 1) Kurt & Rachel’s hallway conversation about the text messages, 2) Kurt & Blaine in Emma’s office, 3) Puck giving gifts in the locker room.
Once we realized we had not received the entire script as advertised and corroborated via email, we immediately reached out to the We Promise Foundation. They were elated to hear about the money we had raised and were eager to help rectify the situation. They reached out to their contact at Glee, explained the misunderstanding, and asked if they could send a copy of the complete script. Due to the 4th of July holiday, we didn’t hear back from We Promise until July 8. We were informed that their contact was requesting the full copy of the script and that we should hear back early during the week of July 9-13 about whether we will be able to get the full script.

We are still awaiting word, but are hopeful we will be able to secure the entire script. We will make an announcement upon further definitive news on the remaining portions of the script.

Successful Efforts

Extraordinary Merry Christmas

Prior to the airing of Glee’s Christmas episode, three promotional stills were released depicting Blaine giving Kurt what looked to be a ring box. Fans of Kurt and Blaine were giddy with excitement and there was rampant speculation as to what was in the box. When the episode ended and our screens went black and we had not seen the pivotal scene, we were confused and curious about what had transpired between Kurt and Blaine and why the scene had not been included. Was it time constraints or what many feared—network censoring of a positive relationship that had drawn negative attention from non-viewers because it happened to be between two boys? Months later, when we became aware of the charity auction of the script, we saw and seized an opportunity to discover what happened in what we dubbed “The Box Scene” and also contribute to a worthy cause.

In the end, we raised over $14,000 for charity, revealed The Box Scene, and helped amplify the discussion concerning Glee’s troubling double standard in regards to displays of affection and narrative focus allowed to queer couples/characters as opposed to their heterosexual counterparts.

Heart

In an effort to learn even more about who and/or what is responsible for the double standard between queer and heterosexual couples on Glee, we came together again and raised money to win “Heart,” Glee’s Valentine’s Day episode in which the writers messaged “love is love” but the seeming censoring of a kiss between Kurt and Blaine sent another, troubling, message.

Dance With Somebody

“Dance With Somebody” is arguably the only episode in Season 3 of Glee in which Kurt and Blaine’s relationship was the sole A-Plot. The episode was a fan favorite, including many pivotal moments between Kurt and Blaine. Fans were largely satisfied with the episode, but were confused and concerned when at the conclusion of a significant moment in their relationship, one that would have and has been closed with a kiss by heterosexual couples, the two boys only shared a hug, once again seeming to add to a troubling double standard.

The Purple Piano Project

The Purple Piano Project, Glee’s Season 3 premier, was filled with many great moments for Klaine fans, including Blaine’s transfer to McKinley and the introduction of Kurt’s NYADA story line.
