About The Box Scene Project
Mission Statement
The Box Scene Project is committed to positively contributing to the world and fan community by giving back to charity and fans by raising and donating money to worthy organizations and sharing scripts and other memorabilia with fellow fans. It is our sincere hope and belief that by allying with other fans and groups, the money we raise and donate will help others continue to do good in our world while simultaneously increasing visibility and representation of LGBT characters and couples in popular media, and thereby help to create a more equal and just world.
We began as and remain a dedicated group of fans of Glee’s Kurt and Blaine and their equal parts influential and adorable relationship. We gladly ally with other fans and groups in order to achieve representational equality for queer couples on Glee and other network television in order to celebrate and increase their positive societal impact.

How The Box Scene Project Began
The Box Scene Project began as an amateur fundraiser between two friends in order to win a charity auction for a TV script that held a cut scene they believed could be pivotal to the story line of Glee’s Kurt & Blaine, their favorite couple, and offer insight into what they believed was a new, growing, and troubling pattern of downplaying and/or censoring LGBT affection.
Within three weeks, 113 people donated to the effort, totaling $4,200. They won the charity auction with money to spare. Once word got out, many other fans and supporters of the onscreen couple wanted to donate to the charity to show their thanks. Their desire spawned a Charity Giveaway that raised another $10,000 in one week. When all was said and done, what had begun as a simple text between friends had turned into an effort involving hundreds, raising over $14,000 for charity, and broadcasting a livestream to thousands of fellow fans, reminding them all why they were fans of the influential TV couple, appreciate the couple’s societal impact, and experience the now revealed cut scene—lovingly referred to as The Box Scene—together.
